Application of POM wear-resistant material in automobile industry

(1) Introduction to POM materials

Advantage:

High rigidity, high strength, and stable mechanical properties;

Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, high elastic modulus;

Friction and wear resistance, self-lubricating properties;

Resistant to inorganic chemicals and various oils;

Beautiful surface, high gloss, easy to form;

Suitable for insert molding, injection molding and cutting on metal inserts, welding, etc.

Shortcoming:

Poor thermal stability, the material is easy to decompose at high temperature;

High crystallinity, large molding shrinkage;

Low notch impact;

Not resistant to strong acid and alkali.

(2) Application of POM in the automotive field

The automotive industry is the largest potential market for POM. POM is light in weight, low in noise, simple in processing and molding, and low in production cost. It can be widely used in automobiles as a substitute for some metals, and meets the development direction of automobile lightweight.

The modified POM has low friction coefficient, wear resistance and strong rigidity, which is very suitable for the manufacture of automobile transmission parts and functional parts.
